Oracle Campus Arrangement for higher & Further Education
New licensing and pricing deal for Higher and Further Education Institutions.

After valuable feedback from individual institutions and the Universities and Colleges Information Systems Association (UCISA), Oracle has devised a pricing arrangement which better meets the needs of the HE/FE community. In particular, the new arrangement includes:

• Broader Product Range - Oracle's 'technology' products are now available under the new Campus Arrangement. Database and Application Server products are included as before but now extended to include database options (e.g. RAC, Management Packs), Service Oriented Architecture, Business Intelligence, Identity Management and Enterprise Content Management
  
  
• Campus-wide and Project-based Licensing - a staff full-time equivalent (FTE) metric, for campus-wide licensing, is now available at 85% discount. Once you have staff FTE licences in place, attractive pricing is available for general purpose/project-based licensing, on Named User or Processor metrics
  
  
• Free Migration - for existing Campus customers, a free of charge migration to the new arrangement is offered, based on the effective Staff FTE number at the last time of top-up. A simple true-up to current staff FTE levels, based on published Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) figures, is all that is then required to move to the new Campus arrangement

Oracle Introduces The HP Oracle Database Machine

In a keynote address to nearly 43,000 OpenWorld attendees, Oracle Chief Executive Officer, Larry Ellison unveiled the HP Oracle Database Machine, a system designed for extreme performance data warehouses.

The HP Oracle Database Machine consists of a grid of Oracle Database Servers and a grid of new Oracle Exadata Storage Servers packaged in a single rack ordered as a complete system from Oracle.

The latest offering resulting from Oracle's and HP's long-time engineering relationship, HP Oracle Exadata Storage Servers break the performance bottleneck between database servers and conventional storage by shipping less data through larger pipes.

No changes are required to existing queries or business intelligence applications to deliver extreme performance for large Oracle data warehouses.
