What's New in VMware vShield 5?

• vShield App with Data Security features dynamic discovery and classification of sensitive business information reducing the risk of data theft and leakage. More than 80 templates are provided to validate compliance with regulations from across the world, simplifying the identification and reporting of sensitive data
• Adaptive trust zones with layer 2 firewall to protect against password sniffing, dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) snooping/poisoning attacks, address resolution protocol (ARP) spoofing, and more
• Flexible IP addressing, including the ability to use the same IP address in multiple tenant zones, simplifies provisioning
• Application-aware firewalling improves security by only opening sessions (ports) when needed for common applications, such as Oracle databases, Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Remoter Procedure Call (RPC)
• Role-based access control (RBAC) provides a clear separation of workflow for virtual infrastructure and security administrators. RBAC provides flexibility in delegating administration across resource pools and security groups, improving security of applications and data

What's New in VMware vCloud Director 1.5?

• Fast provisioning using VMware Linked Clone technology to dramatically speed up provisioning time and reduce storage costs
• SQL Server support and Cisco Nexus 1000v integration for easier integration with existing environments
• Custom extensions and an expanded vCloud API to integrate vCloud Director to existing enterprise systems (e.g. CMDB, IPAM)

What's New in Site Recovery Manager 5?

vSphere Replication: The industry's first hypervisor-based replication, provides cost-efficient replication for Site Recovery Manager deployments

vSphere Replication is bundled with all editions of Site Recovery Manager at no additional cost, and enables the use of heterogeneous storage across sites. vSphere Replication simplifies replication by managing replication directly through vCenter, at a more granular and flexible 'virtual machine' level

Planned migration: Perform routine migrations with application-consistent recovery and zero data loss

Automated failback: Site Recovery Manager automatically manages the reversal of replication and the fail back to the original production site to streamline routine migrations

More flexible virtual machine boot sequence: vCenter Site Recovery Manager now supports a much more flexible virtual machine boot sequence with more priority levels and virtual machine dependencies

What's New in vCenter Server Heartbeat 6.4?

• Supports VMware vCenter Server 5
• Improved integration with VMware vCenter Server
• New plug-in to the vSphere Client provides monitoring and management of vCenter Server Heartbeat from the vSphere Client
• Enhanced architecture allows the active and standby nodes to be reachable over the network at the same time, enabling both to be patched and managed

Training

From August 2011, two training courses will be available - the first course will enable delegates to update their skills from vSphere 4 and the second will show delegates how to manage the vSphere 5 platform.
