Special offer for the NHS

by Will Barrett 20. May 2011 06:53

For a limited* time only, individual NHS Trusts can enter into an Enterprise Agreement with Microsoft and benefit from the discounts that were previously only available under the NHS Enterprise-wide Agreement

As you are aware, the Department of Health elected not to renew the NHS Enterprise-wide Agreement (EwA) in May 2010. This has meant that individual Primary Health Care Trusts, Acute Hospital Trusts, Strategic Health Authorities, Mental Health Trusts, Ambulance Trusts and NHS Arm's-Length Bodies (NHS Trusts) have lost the economy of scale afforded them by the EwA, while having to assume responsibility for ensuring they are correctly licensed and have the software they require to do their work effectively.

For a limited period, however, Microsoft is now providing the opportunity for individual NHS Trusts to enter into an Enterprise Agreement and benefit from the discounts that were previously only available under the NHS Enterprise-Wide Agreement.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?
Basically, it means that the discounts that you enjoyed while part of the NHS Enterprise-wide Agreement are currently available to you until 30 June 2011.

Your NHS Trust can apply to take advantage of this offer as long as you were previously enrolled under the original NHS Enterprise-wide Agreement that expired in May 2010.

This Agreement includes an uplift to enable it to be for three years from date of signature - meaning it will expire in 2014. The uplift facilitates the continuation of the Software Assurance element of the Agreement, with no requirement to purchase the licence again.

DON'T MISS OUT
For further information and pricing, contact the Phoenix NHS Team on 0845 265 1230 or email nhs@phoenixs.co.uk

* Last billing date 30 June 2011

Lync 2010

by Emma Bannister 11. October 2010 10:06

Microsoft has announced that the new version of Office Communication Server will  be renamed Lync Server 2010.

Lync is the new family brand for the products formerly known as Communications Server, Communications Online and Communicator, and it also now include Lync Web App, and Lync Online.  The release candidates of Lync 2010 and Lync Server 2010 are now available for businesses of all sizes to try for free.

The enterprise voice features of the Enterprise CAL (which is also included in the ECAL suite CAL) are being discontinued and replaced with a separate CAL called the ‘Plus CAL’. The Plus CAL will not be part of the ECAL suite.

Customers with SA have various options depending on when the SA was purchased so will need to contact their account manager to find out more.

Most importantly – you must be enrolled in active software assurance for the OCS Enterprise CAL or ECAL Suite by December 1st 2010 in order to be eligible for the grandfathering policy.

Changes to Microsoft OCS CAL Licensing

by Emma Bannister 8. June 2010 10:00

The new Voice CAL will be launched on July 1st 2010 and will contain the Voice element that was previously part of the OCS Enterprise CAL only.

It is important to note that this will no longer be part of the OCS Enterprise CAL or the ECAL so if you require full functionality (e.g. presence, conferencing and Voice) you will need either ECAL & Voice CAL, or OCS Std CAL, OCS Ent CAL and Voice CAL.

For further information, please contact your Phoenix Account Manager on 0845 265 1265 or email info@phoenixs.co.uk
