What are the restrictions on use of the software?

You may purchase only one license of any Adobe Student Edition product. This license may be used only on your privately owned computer. Student Edition products may not be used for commercial gain.

What do I activate my Student and Teacher product?

To obtain your full license serial number, you will need:

  • Access to the Internet
  • Your current e-mail address
  • The coupon code printed in the upper left corner of the Student and Teacher Edition order fulfilment process instructions (inside your Adobe Student and Teacher Edition box)
  • A digital copy of your proof of eligibility (see "Proof of Eligibility" for required documents and acceptable formats)
  • To obtain your serial number, follow the instructions.
  • Only eligible individuals who are able to provide proof of eligibility will receive a serial number for their Adobe Student and Teacher Edition product

What will the proof of eligibility documents be required?

For Students: Proof of current enrolment, stating your name, the institution name, and the current date or term

Types of proof of enrolment include: school ID card, report card, transcript, tuition bill or statement. Any other document issued by the educational institution that includes your name, the institution name, and the current date or term

For Teachers: faculty, and staff: Current ID that includes your name, the date, and the name of the educational entity or an official document such as the following: Institutional payslip stub, tetter on official letterhead from the registrar of the educational entity indicating current employment

I am involved in Home Schooling what proof do I need to provide?

A Home-schooled students and their teachers provide:

  • Dated copy of a letter of intent to home school
  • Current membership ID to a home school association
  • Dated proof of purchase of curriculum for the current academic school year

What is classed as 'current' documentation?

Documents dated within the last six months are considered current. Only Home-schooling recognized by local education authorities allowed.

Which Educational Establishments do Adobe allow students/teachers to attend in order to utilise their software?

Accredited public or private primary, secondary, or higher education school providing full-time instruction. This includes nursery schools, primary schools, secondary schools, high schools, grammar schools, schools for the handicapped, teacher training colleges, technical colleges, further education colleges, research institutes, adult education centers, and State run or State subsidised facilities for the retraining of the unemployed.

  • Administrative offices or boards of education of Educational Establishments (for their own use)
  • Home schools approved in writing by Adobe in its sole discretion
  • Government schools located in the Territory
  • Named educational entities approved by Adobe, only if individual named entities are approved by Adobe in writing if not already listed by Adobe on its website
    1. Hospitals that are wholly owned and operated by an Educational Establishment. Wholly owned and operated means the Educational Establishment is sole owner of the hospital and the only entity exercising control over day-to-day operations.
    2. Education research laboratories that are a public establishment and recognised as such, teach students as part of their research mission, and can provide a copy of bylaws that state the relationship with the controlling university
    3. Educational consortiums and systems: Corporations and associations validly organised and existing under the laws of the Territory, whereby each member or shareholder of which is an accredited school

Avanquest

What restrictions are there for use of the software?

You may purchase only one license of Avanquest Expert PDF per student. This license may be used only on your privately owned computer. Student Edition products may not be used for commercial gain.

What do I get when I place my order?

You will receive an email that will include a download link (for the software) and a serial number.

All you need to do is click on the link, download the file, follow the installation instructions and input the serial number when asked.

The step by step process is below:

  • Click on the link in the email to download the file. You will be prompted to choose a location to save the file.
  • Browse to the file and double-click it to start the installation
  • Click NEXT on the first screen welcoming you to the eXPert PDF installer
  • Agree it the license agreement and click on NEXT
  • Enter your name and the serial number provided in the email (we recommend to copy and paste this to avoid typing mistakes) followed by NEXT
  • Select either an EXPRESS or CUSTOM installation followed by NEXT (we recommend EXPRESS)
  • The program will install, this can take a few minutes.
  • Register your software for access to updates and tech support. You can register now by clicking OK or later by clicking on REGISTER LATER
  • After registering (or not) the final screen will appear with options to launch eXPert PDF now and whether or not to add a shortcut to the desktop. You should check any options they want and click on FINISH.
  • In some cases you may now be prompted to restart your PC.
  • When eXPert PDF is run for the first time. It will check for updates. If any updates are available the AVANQUEST UPDATE ENGINE will run. You should follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the update.
  • In some cases you may now be prompted to restart their PC.

What is Pro Tools 10 software?

Pro Tools 10 delivers their best sounding, most powerful audio production software for recording, composing, editing, and mixing music and sound for picture to date. This new version of Pro Tools software that delivers a host of new features, including the ability to adjust and match gain levels, pre-mixer, with Clip Gain, work more easily with AudioSuite-rendered clips with reverse processing handles, and get improved responsiveness on slower hard drives with the enhanced disk handler.

If Avid bring out a new version of Pro Tools will I be eligible to a complimentary upgrade?

Yes, the Academic Student versions include four years of upgrades

How will Student access their free upgrade as part of the 4 year upgrade program?

Students will receive this directly through Avid into their online Avid account that they would have set up during the registration process when purchasing Pro Tools 9.

Is there a cut-off date for activating free upgrades?

One has not been provided by Avid as yet.

I am not in the UK, am I still able to purchase a copy of Avid software?

Avid will not allow sales into the embargoed countries of Cuba, North Korea, Iran, Libya, Sudan and Syria. Student and teachers in other countries are eligible to purchase as long as they still abide by the standard terms and conditions. Please see Avid Terms and Conditions.

Am I able to purchase on behalf of a child who is at primary school?

No, Avid only allow sales to students attending Secondary school or above.

What is Microsoft Office University?

Microsoft Office University 2010 for Windows and Office University 2011 for Mac are products that replace Microsoft Office Professional Academic 2010 and Office Mac 2011. The new product name reflects customer eligibility: Office University 2010 is for higher-education students and higher-education faculty only.

What applications are included in Office University?

Office University 2010 includes the 2010 versions of: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher and Access. Office University 2011 for Mac includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

What are the eligibility requirements for Microsoft Office University?

Eligibility is subject to availability, this offer applies only to eligible students and staff who attend or are employed at an educational institution geographically located in the United Kingdom, Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man. This offer is non-transferable. One of each product may be purchased per eligible student or member of staff. The following conditions serve to define student eligibility for the offer:
  • The individual must possess a valid e-mail address at a UK educational institution which contains the domain suffix 'ac.uk', 'ac.im', 'ac.gg', 'ac.je' or 'open.ac.uk' If the domain suffix is 'open.ac.uk' then staff/students do not need to meet the minimum contact and/or working/teaching time requirements outlined below
  • If you are a student, you must be enrolled in an education institution geographically located in the United Kingdom, Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man. If a Higher Education student, you must be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate level course. If a Further Education student, you must have at least 15 hours of scheduled contact time per week for your course
  • If you are a member of staff, you must be employed (at least 8 hours or 4 teaching hours/week) at an education institution geographically located in the United Kingdom, Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man

Microsoft or an appointed vendor may contact you to verify that you are a current student or member of staff. If documentation is not provided indicating that you are a current student or member of staff, you will be liable to reimburse Microsoft for the difference between what you paid and the estimated retail price of the software.

  • Internet access is required. The academic verification and redemption process occurs online
  • Customers will be subject to the Office University EULA and will be required to agree to the agreement before activating the product
  • Each eligible user can verify only one Office University product in a 12-month period
  • Microsoft, in their sole discretion, may accept other forms of validation to determine eligibility in lieu of a valid e-mail address when one is not available

Why is Internet Access required?

Internet access is required because the verification process and product key redemption process occur online.

How many licences /installations does Office University allow?

The Office University full package product allows one user to activate one Office suite on up to two PCs or Macs, for use by a single person

Can I return the Microsoft Office University product?

No. There are no refunds or returns on the Microsoft Office University product. This policy applies both to downloaded software and/or physical media.

What is the recommended product for families with K-12 students?

Microsoft Office Home and Student is the recommended product for parents and families with K-12 students.

What is the difference between the DVD and ESD versions of Office University?

The DVD version is a physical boxed product that will be shipped to you via a courier. Once received, you will then need to obtain your product key by accessing the Microsoft verification website. Please see further information below, headed Post Purchase Validation.

The ESD (Electronic Software Download) version is provided by a software download directly from Microsoft's electronic distribution partner eAcademy. No physical DVDs will be provided. Pre Purchase Validation is required before the product key is delivered. Please see further information below, headed Pre Purchase Validation.

Instructions for Post Purchase Validation?

Office University does not come with a product key. Your eligibility will be verified online before completing purchase. The product will not work without successful verification as you will not have a product key.

If you choose to purchase the physical DVD version of Office University, once you have received the package you will be required to verify your eligibility online to use the software. Visit www.office.com/verify

  • Sign in with your Windows Live ID or create one as prompted
  • Provide your school email address, sign-in ID, or international student identity card (ISIC)

Once you have completed this post purchase verification procedure the online site displays the product key.

If you do not complete the eligibility criteria as stated above, then you will not be able to return the software.

What is Pre- Purchase Validation?

Office University does not come with a product key. Your eligibility will be verified online before completing purchase. This product will not work without successful verification as you will not have a product key.

Can I use the product key obtained from the Office University 2010 verification process to activate Office 2010 software on a "preloaded PC"?

Yes. The Office University 2010 product key can 'unlock' the Office 2010 software on a 'preinstalled' PC.

What is the Extended Access Guarantee offered with Office University ESD version?

When you receive your link to download Office University, you are provided with a package called Security Download Manager (SDM). The SDM will allow you to download and begin the installation of Office University.

You have 31 days to access the software. Once you have accessed the software you can burn the files to a CD as a backup and write the key down in a secure place. However an alternative is to purchase Extended Access Guarantee (EAG) for £4.95. This allows 2 years of access to your links, so should you need to download and re-install the software due to a system crash/virus etc, then you have peace of mind that you can still access your software and do not have to make an additional purchase.

What is the difference between 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows?

The terms 32-bit and 64-bit refer to the way a computer's processor (also called a CPU) handles information. The 64-bit version of Windows handles large amounts of random access memory (RAM) more effectively than a 32-bit system.

How can I tell if my computer is running a 32-bit or a 64-bit version of Windows?

To find out if your computer is running 32-bit or 64-bit Windows, do the following:

  • Click on the Start button
  • Click Control Panel
  • Click System and Maintenance
  • Click System
  • Under System, you can view the system
  • Can I run 32-bit programs on a 64-bit computer?

Most programs designed for the 32-bit version of Windows will work on the 64-bit version of Windows. Notable exceptions are many antivirus programs.

Device drivers designed for 32-bit versions of Windows won't work on computers running a 64-bit version of Windows. If you're trying to install a printer or other device that only has 32-bit drivers available, it won't work correctly on a 64-bit version of Windows. If you are unsure whether there is a 64-bit driver available for your device, go online to the Windows Vista Compatibility Center.

Can I run 64-bit programs on a 32-bit computer?

If the program is specifically designed for the 64-bit version of Windows, it won't work on the 32-bit version of Windows. (However, most programs designed for the 32-bit version of Windows will work on the 64-bit version of Windows.) Device drivers designed for the 64-bit version of Windows won't work on computers running a 32-bit version of Windows. Please note that XP64 users can install the 32-bit version under Windows XP compatibility mode.

Why did I get the error message "the authorization of your download has failed you do not have any usages remaining" and what do I do next?

Your download routine has failed; this may be a system issue or installing a 64-bit option onto a 32-bit PC. Email: student-office@phoenixs.co.uk where we will validate that full download has not taken place and issue further usage links.

Will my software still belong to me when I leave school/employment?

Yes, the licence offered to you by Microsoft is a perpetual licence and does not expire when you cease to be a student or an employee. You can still use the product after you leave school/employment.

When I click on 'Submit' when placing my order nothing happens.

When placing an order if nothing happens when you click on 'Submit' please make sure that all details have been completed correctly and that you have ticked to say that you accept our Terms and Conditions.

My university/college is not listed, what do I do?

How can I pay for my order, and is it safe to purchase online?

Are there restrictions on shipping addresses?

What is a PIN and why is it required?

A PIN is a unique 27-character alphanumeric code used to verify that Microsoft Office was purchased at a participating retailer. Customers will go to www.office.com/verify to exchange their PIN for a Microsoft Office Product Key. A PIN can only be used once to obtain a Product Key.

Where do I find my PIN?

The PIN is printed on a separate Instruction Card located inside your Microsoft Office University package.

Is a PIN the same thing as a Product Key?

No. A PIN is used to verify that Microsoft Office was purchased at a participating retailer and is used to obtain a Product Key. An Office Product Key is used to install, activate and use Office products. You cannot use a PIN to install Office.

My PIN is not working, what should I do?

If your PIN is not working, try the following:

  • Verify the PIN was entered correctly. PIN is not case sensitive and is alpha-numeric
  • Make sure the PIN has not already been used to obtain an Office Product Key. A PIN can only be used once to obtain a Product Key. If the PIN has already been used, you can log into your account with your Windows Live ID (if you established it when the PIN was first entered) to access your Product Key or you can check your email for the confirmation email you received when the PIN was first consumed to access your Product Key

What is a Product Key?

A Product Key is a unique 25-character alphanumeric code required to install and activate Microsoft Office. It is used to verify that your software is legitimate.

Why do I need a Product Key?

Product Keys are used to install, activate, reinstall or repair your Office programs. It is important to keep your Product Keys in a safe place.

Should I use my existing Windows Live Account or create a new one?

Using your existing Windows Live account or creating a new account will allow you to access your Office Product Key at any time online in the future. It is important to use an account and password that you are familiar with to allow you to obtain easy access to your information and to receive email confirmation that will include your Product Key.

Will you send me an email confirmation with my Product Key?

Yes. An email containing your Office Product Key will be sent to the email address associated with your Windows Live ID or to the email that you provided if you skipped account setup.

Note: If you are using an email spam blocker tool or junk mail filter, make sure that you can receive email messages from microsoft.co.uk.

What happens if I lose my Office Product Key?

If you lose your Office Product Key you can return to www.office.com/verify and sign in using the 'Sign In' link in the top right corner of the page. This will retrieve your Office Product Key if you set up your account with your Windows Live ID. If you did not set up a Windows Live ID account initially there is no record of your Product Key online. Check your email as this is the only record of your Product Key.

What do I received after I place my order?

Your will receive a box product delivered to the address you identified when placing your order.

Once you have received your product you will be required to access the publisher's web site to prove your student/teacher/staff status.

Why are these products so cheap? Are they full copies?

All software that Phoenix Software sells is full legitimate copies from well known reputable manufacturers. These manufacturers are aware that commercial pricing is not viable for students to access so wish to ensure that their products are able to reach out into all the available marketplaces.

I may need help – what can you offer?

For each of the specific manufacturers we have an FAQ section, which explains how to download the software. However if you encounter any issues you can either contact the manufacturer directly - where specified in the FAQ – or use the Contact Us button and send an email to us.

We have a team of people who are able to assist and if you need a telephone call to help sort out your issue, that is fine, we can ring you. Student Store offer support to our customers Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:30pm. Support is available relating to the software purchased from Student Store. However general computer and user queries shoud be directed to your PC provider or software vendor.

Why do I need to enter my education establishment name?

In order to comply with the manufacturer’s rules of supplying to students, teachers and staff at these great prices, we must ensure that the correct people are purchasing the product. When you do purchase and accept the Terms and Conditions, this is confirming that you are an eligible user of the software within the establishment chosen.

How soon can I expect my software to be delivered?

If you view the relevant manufacturers FAQ it will explain if the product is download or physical delivery. In general Microsoft and Symantec product downloads will be in your In Box within minutes of your purchase. Other download products will be with you within 24 hours. Physical products will be despatched within 24 hours from stock. We do our best to maintain good stock levels at all times, but should there be an issue we will notify you as quickly as possible.

Are there restrictions on shipping addresses?

Yes, shipping is available to United Kingdom addresses only.

I’m looking to buy a new computer, can I purchase the software now and download later or do I need to wait till I have my new computer?

When you purchase the software you will be sent an email which has a link to download the media. You can do this at anytime, before or after you have purchased your new computer.

There is no time limit on when you need to activate your link and you do not have to enter any information regarding the computer you are going to install the software on.

What is the refund policy?

Unfortunately as these products are either download or products that need validation once the sale has been completed and the goods have been electronically or physically delivered we are unable to offer a refund. Please do ensure that your hardware has the capacity to run the software by viewing the System Requirements section of your chosen product.
