End of Support for VMware Horizon 7

VMware Horizon 7 will be going End of Support on 22 March 2021 and has the potential to impact many organisations that rely on the solution. This affects all versions up to and including version 7.12.

To allow customers more time to plan upgrades to Horizon 8, VMware will be providing an extension of general support for Horizon 7 version 7.13 until October 2022. To receive this support, customers must have a valid support agreement (SnS or Term support) with VMware during this period.

VMware strongly recommends that customers who want to continue running Horizon 7 beyond March 2021 upgrade to version 7.13. Please note that:

  • VMware expects to release periodic maintenance updates during the general support extension. Each update will primarily contain critical bug, security fixes and new Windows 10 support.
  • This extended support is available for the Horizon Server, Horizon Agent, Horizon Client 5.5 (Windows, macOS, Linux); App Volumes 4 version 2009 and DEM version 2009.
  • Customers may choose to extend Horizon 7 version 7.13 general support after Oct 2022 until Oct of 2025 by purchasing an extended support contract (SKU) from VMware.
  • If customers do not purchase an extended support contract, Horizon 7.13 and Horizon Clients 5.5 will reach end of technical guidance by March 2023, 2 years from the original end of support date of March 2021.

Note: An App Volumes 4 manager server is capable of managing both App Volumes 4 agents and App Volumes 2.18 agents. Customers can take advantage of this extended support while continuing to use App Volumes 2.18 agents by upgrading their App Volumes Manager servers to App Volumes 4 version 2009.
