Team Phoenix Talks: David Kerridge

We shine the spotlight on members of Team Phoenix to discover what matters to them, what it’s like being part of the team, and provide an honest insight into working in the tech industry.

This month, we sat down for a chat with David Kerridge, Infrastructure Support Analyst to find out why he describes working at Phoenix as ‘refreshing’.

What’s your experience of working at Phoenix so far?

“I joined Phoenix Software in October 2020 in what I can only describe as a unicorn situation – to be offered a role with limitless progression in a friendly, nurturing and supportive environment. From the very beginning, you are adopted into an inclusive family and given all the tools you need to succeed in your role. Across the entire business, everyone’s door is truly always open, and the transparency of company direction and practices is so refreshing. There are no egos here, just a clear passion for what we do and our goals.”

Tell us a little bit about your role.

“I work alongside a fantastic group of people across our various teams, supporting and improving our customer’s IT environments and development. As part of the infrastructure team, a typical day for me is dealing with the physical environments, system upgrades and all the niggly bits that only Dr Google understands!

“I have also recently started a new role in the upcoming Security Operation Centre (SOC) with the purpose of defending the organisation from cyber-attacks.”

With his background in creative design, Ben takes projects from inception to execution and can identify the correct strategy based on the subject, audience, and goals – while increasing the brand profile and revenue. His passion for digital marketing is evident in everything he does, and both vendors and strategic partners often comment on his incredibly positive attitude to ‘make things happen’.

Why do you think Phoenix has been recognised as one of the UK’s ‘Best Companies to Work For’?

“Phoenix puts its staff first and offers each individual every opportunity to succeed. You are encouraged to keep learning with tangible personal and professional training offered on every level, and progression plans and self-paced learning fully supported by the senior management team. It’s clear that our team are knowledgeable and experienced in the tech industry, and everyone’s opinion is as valued as much as anyone’s, regardless of their role.

“Since starting my role at Phoenix, I have already learnt so much, and everyone from my peers to the Board has supported my learning and development to the point where I have already been offered a pathway to progress into my dream role.”

How would you describe the culture at Phoenix?

“As a team, we are very social and we are all genuine friends outside of work. The inclusion is incredible, and I can’t express how nice it is to have colleagues, managers, and a company that all have your back. The entire business is a positive entity that draws you in and it’s impossible not to come to work every day with a smile on your face. The personal investment of the entire team is unparalleled and we all share the same drive to push ourselves and the company to excel.

“I have worked for many MSP and internal IT companies, but none have ever reached the standards of Phoenix. We do things right. We don’t just make do; we fix, innovate and progress for to ensure that things are right for the business and our customers, which is so refreshing.

“At Phoenix, quality is key every time.”
