Making a commitment to our planet
Protecting our future is one of the greatest challenges we are currently facing. Sustainability is a key priority for everyone, and not just in the public and private sectors, but in our personal lives too. We all have our role to play in creating positive change for our planet and its inhabitants, and Phoenix is committed to doing its part.
We believe that change starts with us. Alongside supporting our customers to make more sustainable choices, we have made significant progress with our own sustainability strategy and are continually working towards making Phoenix an even more sustainable business for our employees, customers, and community.
Due to the nature of our business, our current impact is minimal, but we take our responsibilities to the environment very seriously and recognise where we can make more sustainable choices. Every day, we are reducing our impact on the environment as much as possible by identifying additional areas to improve across our business and working towards successfully reaching our sustainability goals.

Phoenix is Carbon Neutral!
We are proud to announce that in March 2022, we officially became Carbon Neutral.
We achieved this by working with accredited offsetting companies, such as Ecologi, who we are supporting on their mission to reduce carbon – at present, they have funded the planting of 38,984,320 trees and reduced 1,689,802 certified tonnes of CO2.
So far, through our work with Ecologi, we have:
Reduced 117.6 tonnes of +CO2 by generating clean energy from hydropower in India |
Reduced 2.4 tonnes of +CO2 by generating clean electricity from wind power in Vietnam |
And we’re not stopping there. Check out our future targets and the other important achievements we’ve already reached on our journey to becoming a more sustainable business below.
Our sustainability targets
Targeting 80% of our supply chain revenue to be Carbon Neutral by 2025 |
Reducing our operational scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 50% by 2026 This will mean a reduction of 11% every year until we reach our goal |
Becoming Carbon Net Zero by 2040 |
“We have been actively working towards reducing our own environmental impact for some time, and I am thrilled that we achieved our 2022 Carbon Neutral goal earlier this year. “Our strong commitment to reduce our carbon footprint to a net zero position reaches not only into our own business, but also helps to us to support our customers and supply chain, today and for our futures together.” Clare Metcalfe, Operations Director, Phoenix

Working towards the UK government’s sustainability targets together
The 2030 agenda for sustainable development goals has put greater emphasis on the sustainability strategies of the UK’s public and private sectors, increasing the demand for sustainable digital transformation.
To support our customers and peers within our industry to achieve their sustainability goals, we have created several resources that showcase the importance of technology in reaching the 2030 deadline.
“At Phoenix, looking after the planet isn’t a tick box exercise, it is something we are truly passionate about. We are serious about reducing our carbon impact on the planet and working with communities to add real value and have a positive impact on people’s lives.” Jen Clewley, Customer Success Sustainability Lead, Phoenix
