Phoenix is a Great Place to Work® for wellbeing

Great Place to Work® for wellbeingPhoenix has officially been named as 14th on the UK’s Best Workplaces™ for Wellbeing by Great Place to Work®!

Employee wellbeing is one of our top priorities. Our commitment to ensuring good mental health means that our employees feel supported, safe, and comfortable in their roles here at Phoenix.

To determine our place on the UK’s Best Workplaces™ for Wellbeing list, Great Place to Work® culture specialists analysed surveys completed by our employees to assess their experiences of wellbeing at work. Our employees were asked to comment on how we support their wellbeing in a number of different ways, from their work-life balance, sense of fulfilment, and job satisfaction to psychological safety and financial security. Great Place to Work® also assessed how consistently we deliver the employee experience across all departments and seniority levels.

“At the heart of every organisation are its people and looking after their wellbeing should be much more than a package of impressive perks on a careers website. We know when employees feel genuinely contented and at ease within their roles, they are much more engaged and productive. A huge congratulations to Phoenix for making this prestigious list.” – Benedict Gautrey, Managing Director, Great Place to Work® UK

This certification confirms that we are caring and devoted workplace, putting our employees’ health above anything else. We believe that mental security and happiness are key to building an encouraging workspace to accommodate for every employee, and we are continually working on this through our initiatives to improve employee wellbeing, including:

  • Wellbeing Wednesdays: every employee can take a paid hour off work one Wednesday a month to focus on their mental health. That’s 4,380 hours across the entire company each year dedicated to wellbeing!
  • Tea and Toast chats: once a month our Mental Health and Wellbeing Network hosts a Tea and Toast session to discuss and raise awareness of topics related to mental wellbeing
  • Mental health first aid: we have eight mental health first aiders across the business who are professionally trained to provide support to those who need it
  • Menopause awareness: we have undertaken research and have had a number of internal discussions around menopause to discover how we can better support our employees with symptoms of the menopause
  • EAP: We have an Employee Assistance Programme that provides mental health support to all employees 24/ 7, to ensure everyone gets the help they need

Our Managing Director, Sam Mudd comments on the achievement: “Looking after our employees’ wellbeing is something we are very passionate about at Phoenix.

“It is part of our culture to get the best out of everyone and give them as much support as possible throughout their career with us. And this ultimately boosts performance. If our employees can achieve their potential and feel good about their career with us as an organisation, it helps to improve employee retention and provides great engagement levels across the business.”
