Microsoft have introduced their Tech for Social Impact (TSI) Team who are dedicated to supporting organisations in the charity sector on their journey towards digital transformation.
However, for many of our customers in this sector it is not always clear as to how they can leverage some of the non-profit offers from Microsoft in order to support their cloud strategies. Over the last couple of years Microsoft have offered those in this sector $3,500 credit in their Azure tenancy, Office 365 E1 licences free of charge and Office 365 Business Essentials free of charge. Microsoft’s commitments to charities are:
Microsoft 365 (M365) brings together the best-in-class productivity of Office 365 with simple device management and security to connect people and information in an intelligent new way.
M365 is a suite of products that includes Office 365, EMS and Windows 10. While many will be aware of Office 365 and Windows 10, for some organisations EMS is a licence that they have not come across before. The Enterprise Mobility + Security suite provides:
The release of the M365 Business donation licences from Microsoft means that charities can now run small-scale proof of concepts (with no licensing costs to the business) to determine how they could transition from their existing environment to Microsoft’s cloud-based solutions. By using each of the components in this suite, users can start to collaborate and increase productivity in a secure way.
As part of their ongoing donations programme, Microsoft have now announced that they are now providing x10 Microsoft 365 (M365) Business licences free of charge for charities. We know Microsoft 365 Business and with the new Microsoft 365 Business for charities offer, your organisation will have the technology to achieve its mission and drive real-world impact. Your employees and volunteers (unpaid full-time equivalent – FTE – staff) will have access to powerful tools that help them work better together and get more done, while your organisation is protected by the latest security.
Many charities are using technology to embrace digital transformation so they can extend limited resources and empower employees and volunteers to work together more efficiently and securely. By enhancing collaboration and teamwork within a highly secure framework, charities are benefiting from increased inspiration and dedication among the staff and reducing the risk of data breaches.
To make it easier for your charity to create such an environment, Microsoft has combined Office 365, Windows 10 and Enterprise Mobility + Security into Microsoft 365. This comprehensive, intelligent solution provides the foundation to enable your users to collaborate more securely, while allowing your IT staff to control the integrity of your data and access to it.

Engage with donors and volunteers, connect with beneficiaries and manage your finances
Charities are consolidating their systems in order to reduce complexity and cost and the extensibility and affordability of Microsoft Dynamics 365 is making it a clear technology choice for organisations. Charities are able to decommission multiple legacy systems that had previously been used for fundraising, events management and marketing, as Microsoft Dynamics 365 can comfortably provide this functionality from one single system.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 breaks down silos of data to provide a single view of each supporter across all engagement with the charity. This enhanced insight helps organisations to track the success of their campaigns, identify how to best connect with different kinds of donors, and adapt their processes to maximise their reach.
Working with our strategic partner, Pythagoras, we have built the following packages to help charities get the most from Dynamics 365.
The Phoenix and Pythagoras Exploration engagements are designed to give charities deep understanding of the possibilities of Microsoft Dynamics 365. By the end of the engagement, each attendee with have a clear awareness of Dynamics 365 as it comes out-of-the-box and how this can be enhanced using Microsoft’s free non-profit Accelerator. Organisations will also have a clearer understanding of their high-level requirements for their CRM system, and how Dynamics 365 can support them to achieve their strategic goals.
Learn moreThe Phoenix and Pythagoras Microsoft Dynamics 365 Discovery Workshops are designed to give charities a deeper understanding of how Microsoft Dynamics 365 can support them. We will use contextualised demonstrations and experience from previous projects to illustrate the capabilities of Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the wider Microsoft product suite. We tailor our approach to Microsoft Dynamics 365 around the key processes in place at charities: to increase reach to supporters; boost fundraising; streamline communications using automation; enable effective supporter self-service and reduce the cost and pressure on charities to deliver services.
