Race for a Reason 2025

Race for a Reason is only a few months away! This page contains everything you need to know about the race, including more about the charity we’re supporting and the teams taking part.

Race for a Reason 2025 logo

Race for a Reason is a charity event, in which 30 Phoenix employees (split into 10 teams of 3), will race across the Benelux region. Their goal is to strategise to earn the maximum number of points, accumulated by reaching certain checkpoints along their route. Each player will be kept on their toes, with mystery tasks and unknowns around every corner.

The event spans three days, starting on Sunday 6th July and ending on Wednesday 9th July. There will be three prizes:

  • Team to finish fastest (after time deductions based on points gathered across checkpoints)
  • Team to raise the most funds for St Leonard’s Hospice
  • Team with the highest social engagements (posts, likes, shares, comments, retweets) across LinkedIn, X, Facebook, and Instagram)

Prior to and during the race, the teams will also work to raise as much money for our chosen charity, St Leonard’s Hospice, as possible. This is through fundraising activities and social engagements.

About St Leonards

This unique event combines adventure with purpose, with each team racing to raise funds and awareness for St Leonard’s Hospice. As our chosen charity, St Leonard’s Hospice provide their care for free, but it’s not free to provide.

They only receive approximately 27% of their funding from the NHS, so must raise over £6 million a year to run all their crucial services, and make sure as much as possible goes directly to patient care and facilities. Their unrivalled care is only possible thanks to the support of the public, so they are our reason for racing.

Each team is responsible for their own fundraising, with the team who has the highest amount of money winning in that category.

As for arranging the event and subsequent prizes, Phoenix is fully funding those areas, which means St Leonard’s receives every single penny raised.

As a charity, we rely on the generosity of the public to fund our care, whether that’s in the hospice, out in the community, or in patients’ own homes. We simply couldn’t do what we do without the incredible support of businesses like Phoenix Software. Their Race for a Reason challenge is a fantastic example of how companies can make a real difference, and the funds they’ve raised over the years have had a direct impact on the care we provide. We can’t wait to follow their journey in July!”

We launched Race for a Reason because we not only wanted to drive our charity goals and make an impact in local communities, but also make charity fun. Teams have already started fundraising passionately and getting ready for the mission in July. We are looking forward to seeing who wins and how much money we raise for St Leonard’s Hospice and the vital work they do.”
