Microsoft announces Microsoft 365 price increases from March 2022


Microsoft confirms changes to its commercial pricing for Microsoft 365 and Office 365 from 1st March 2022 (education and consumer excluded).

The price increases will affect the products below.

  • Microsoft 365 Business Basic will increase from $5 to $6 per user
  • Microsoft 365 Business Premium will increase from $20 to $22
  • Office 365 E1 will increase from $8 to $10
  • Office 365 E3 will increase from $20 to $23
  • Office 365 E5 will increase from $35 to $38
  • Microsoft 365 E3 will increase from $32 to $36

 Which licensing programs does the new pricing apply to?

The new pricing applies to commercial Volume Licensing (EA/EAS/MPSA), CSP, and Web Direct.

We are a Microsoft Enterprise Agreement customer, what does this mean for us?

All products included within your Enterprise Agreement are price protected until agreement expiry. When you renew an agreement including any of the above licences from March 2022, updated pricing will apply.

Will the From SA SKUs (for example, Microsoft 365 E3 From SA) have the same percentage price increase?

Yes.

Will there be changes to licensing or usage rights?

No, there are no changes to the licensing or usage rights of the Microsoft 365 or Office 365 suites, outside the specific changes that impact Audio Conferencing.

Our Enterprise Agreement is due to expire next year, is there any way for us to protect ourselves against the price increases?

As this will be specific to your organisation, please contact your Phoenix account manager to discuss in more detail.

 Our Enterprise Agreement renewal is next year and we need to set budgets ASAP. How soon can we start working on the options with Phoenix?
