#TeamPhoenix are dedicated to encouraging more females into the tech industry, alongside supporting the women within our business to succeed and progress.
With women making up just 20% of IT specialists in the UK, we recognise that a lot more must be done before gender balance is achieved within the sector. We are working towards this by setting specific business goals for diversity and representation at Phoenix.
“I am incredibly passionate about ensuring that more females are recruited into our industry at all levels, allowing us to build next generation talent to be role models for future generations. Throughout my 30-year career in IT, I have found the industry to be heavily dominated by men, with women often unaware of the wide range of careers available to them within the sector, ranging from HR, sales, and marketing to technical, audit, and other specialist roles.
At Phoenix, we have solid plans in place to increase the percentage of women within our business and I am an ambassador for this. I truly believe that we need diversity in all of our teams, and that gender balance across the business will help us to remain relevant to our customers while ensuring that Phoenix is a great place to work for all. Our culture is about fairness, empathy, and support, so ensuring gender balance and that all gender identities are represented across the company is an absolute necessity for our future growth and success, and we’ve already made great progress.
With only 22% of people currently working in STEM being women, I am proud to say that Phoenix’s board is currently 66% female and our gender split across the business is higher than the industry average at 34% female to 66% male. I am very excited about what the future holds and the opportunities that hiring more women in a broad range of roles present.”

At Phoenix, we are actively working to support and encourage more women into the tech industry. Here are some of the things we’re already doing:
