The Bid Manager is responsible for bidding and tendering on behalf of our sales teams to customers’ current and planned business and technical requirements.

The role is responsible for organising and coordinating bid production, content capture, and commercial modelling into compelling bids/ proposals to drive business acquisition and retention. It requires the individual to take an agile approach to tailor the content to meet the audience requirements and be confident in representing the respective technology vision for the customer.

Ideally you will have an excellent knowledge of vendor options such as Microsoft, Dell, VMware etc., and at a technology level around, cloud, migration and upgrade strategies, as well as support options.

Responsible for creating working partnerships with vendors to enable a win-win outcome for both parties, you will be comfortable working in an energetic, high growth environment and accustomed to working to targets.

The main responsibilities are:

  • Managing the written and editorial aspects of the bid and proposal development process
  • Communicating requirements, deadlines and expectations to key stakeholders and the bid/ proposal team
  • Maintaining the bid library, bid tracker, author content, and editing text produced by other members of the team
  • Re-write/ edit proposal responses from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from technical, sales, marketing, finance, commercial, legal and operations
  • Checking drafts for readability, clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure and formatting
  • Producing high quality documents and ensuring completed bids/ proposals meet the bid specification
  • Conducting bid analysis following completion of submissions to drive improvements
  • Sound commercial understanding, profit and loss, and risk management skills
  • Have the ability to manage complex, multi-workstream opportunities. Solid understanding and management of internal governance procedures
  • For complex bids support the operational and sales teams with the implementation of new agreements
  • Support objectives as defined in the company’s information security policy
  • Perform your tasks in support of data and information security

The Bid Manager will contribute to the successful development of Phoenix and must be a self-motivated, self-directed and organised individual who is able to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, possess good communication skills, and use their initiative, especially when working towards related goals.

  • Ability to multitask and manage disparate plans in a services-based environment
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and work to demanding timelines
  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills and proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams
